Men We Love: Richard Wainright

The best vintage on the planet is a claim only Richard Wainwright can make. Owner of NEW/FOUND vintage concept studio, his Current Affair events have gained global cult status with shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco, NY, Tokyo and most recently Round Top in Texas. And the people-watching? Unmatched. On our last DTLA visit, Current Affair’s unofficial ambassador Kelly Wearstler was rocking an oversized leather trench. During Covid, A Virtual Affair took hold of live Instagram feeds everywhere, showcasing a top coterie of dealers. In-between shows, we catch the illustrious founder on a few of his favorite things.

Fave Hotel On the Planet The boutique hotel Hotel Cielo Rojo in San Pancho, Mexico. They have an organic bistro on-site and there’s this mezcal tasting room Sayulita Wines

Ideal Desert Weekend Never leaving the house. A fire at night and good friends.

Artist on your radar Chris Wolston I would love to own one of his pieces someday.

Current Obsession Bathing Culture. We just did an event at Rancho Pillow in Round Top, Texas and the owner Sheila stocked all the bathrooms with Bathing Culture products.

Coffee Table Book Just ordered the book “Georgia O'Keefe, Photographer” by Yale University Press after seeing the exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston.

Vintage Scores The only finds I keep for myself are housewares. I found an Hermes console table at The Mart Collective in Venice a few years back, and there’s jewelry designer Kenneth Jay Lane's monogrammed set of Louis Vuitton luggage at the Brimfield Market.

Finish this sentence: Vintage is… always an inspiration.
